Memory staying at SAND House
Sunday evening, daddy purchased a few lorry of sand. He decided to level up the wet kitchen area which always cause float when it rains. We were so helpful to help dad pushing trolleys of sands to the kitchen area. Works not finished yet. Have to continue the next day.
I was in Form 5 that time. We walked back home as usual after school since my house was quite near to our secondary school. We couldn’t believe our eyes to see our house was ‘sunk’ into the land. Our house was now the same to the road level. (As spoke earlier, my house was built below road level). We were too shock to see big change in just a few hours separation of schooling time that day.
We bounce to get into the house. My hands can even reach to the roof of the house. When we explored inside the “sand house”, everything was gone. There were no more dining, rooms, kitchen. No partitions. Only empty spaces left. Is it a house? Where should we stay? Luckily, the dining area, toilet remains the same since it was already located at a higher place.
We didn’t move. Daddy wanted to build a new brick wall type house. The decision was made only that day morning. He has yet to appoint an architect on drawing any house plan or do relevant DBKL authority submission. We have to wait. Staying in that house until DBKL approved the plan.
It was indeed an unforgettable experience. Daddy built a room in front of the toilet area. We three sisters were so lucky to have a room to sleep. Poor daddy, mummy and two younger brothers have to sleep outside. Daddy get the 3 seat wooden sofa, put a 3’ width door on it to make him a bed. 2 seat wooden sofa with a small piece of plywood wood for my younger brother. A larger piece of plywood wood supported by cabinets makes a bed for my mom and my youngest brother.
Life was extremely starved. Just imagine….it was my SPM year while my younger sister was going to take her PMR exam soon. We did our homework on daddy and mom’s “bed” in the morning. We wore our slippers even in the house. Of course, we stayed together with the kind-hearted hen. She likes to get inside the house to lay her eggs.
We siblings never forget to play during our pass time in the spacious sand house. Teaching, jumping, drawing on the sand were our newly created games. Ha….did enjoy ourselves very much that time.
It took almost four months before the construction kick off. Hurray!!!! We can move finally!!! Anyway, we were quite reluctant to leave the place too. A lot of childhood memories happened to be at this wooden house…..
(Shall upload some pictures on the scenario one day.)
